The Department of Labor spoke on Fiduciary Best Practices
Featured speakers Lisa Scimeca, Associate Regional Director for the US Department of Labor Philadelphia Regional Office, and Family Wealth Management’s
Marty Higgins and Ken Capelli, provided a compelling discussion on new regulations governing employer provided 401k plans.
Starting next year, employers must disclose to employees all fees associated with their company-sponsored 401k plans. Also, employers will have to document that those fees charged by the plan are reasonable. The US Department of Labor will audit the employer’s plan if DOL sees irregularities in fee disclosure info provided in tax filings, or if DOL receives complaints from employees that the fees are not reasonable.
For more information, contact Marty Higgins at Family Wealth Management, 856-988-7722 or marty@familywealthadvisory.com
As one attendee said, “I’m so glad I came to this luncheon. As a business owner, it’s shocking that I haven’t heard any of this from the guy who handles my company’s 401k!”
An Oktoberfest Celebration at Iron Hill Brewery
Twenty five business owners attended our Oktoberfest Open Networking event at the Iron Hill Brewery in Maple Shade, NJ on October 18. The beer was great, the food was delicious, and the networking was extensive. This was our first event at Iron Hill Brewery, and they took excellent care of us.
Instead of having a gift card as a door prize, we had a drawing for a special $65 putter emblazoned with Philadelphia Eagles logos. The putter was from Richard Glazer Enterprises, and Richard Glazer was on hand to present the putter to the winner of the drawing, Joe O’Donnell, Vice President of The Bank of Gloucester County. Joe must have the luck of the Irish, because it’s the second time he’s won a drawing at a JBL event.

JBL Fundraiser for Hopeworks held on April 3, 2011
More than 100 people came out for “Roll For Hope” on Sunday, April 3, at Pinsetter Bar & Bowl in Pennsauken, a fundraiser organized by Jersey Business Leaders in support of Hopeworks ‘n Camden. The event raised $5,000 for the Camden charity, a youth outreach group formed 11 years ago by three local churches to address the need for education and work opportunities for teens through technology training. Since its inception, the program has hosted over 1,000 trainees, created nearly 300 jobs, and produced nearly 2,000 college credits for Camden’s young people.
JBL members wish to extend special thanks to fundraiser participants, volunteers, and event sponsors for helping to foster hope for the future of our youth.
